Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsubishi eclipse 96 loud noise, mitsubishi eclipse 96, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
I just bought a used Eclipse 1996 105000 2.0  miles it runs great but I am hearing a noise. When I 1st start up the car when its idling there is a noise that sounds like metal grinding or rubbing. The noise sounds like somewhere near engine underneath.  But after a few minutes 3-5.  Ths sound goes away and its not heard anymore during the time I am driving.  Usually after few hours in day like after work, I start it up and it does the same thing.  Loud noise for a few minutes and then it goes away and car runs smooth with no problem.

Answer
Chad,
What you're probably hearing is the oil pump gears.  This is common on most Eclipses on cold mornings.  If you just bought it, I would recommend you replace the oil and oil filter with a high quality oil.  I would suggest a 5W-30 type oil during the colder winter months and be sure your oil level is always at the proper level.  On very cold mornings, you'll always hear some sort of noise, but as long as it goes away after the engine starts to warm up, there's no problem.
Good luck!
