Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsu. 1997 automatic 3000gt radio issue, dodge stealths, salvage yards

Question
Dear Sir,
I have a 3000gt 1997 automatic. I have been having trouble with my radio and I can not figure out what the problem is. The radio does not recieve reception well on normal stations that I should. I changed the antenna and the wire that goes from antenna to the radio. On rare occasion the stations might come in clear but for the most part it is a mix between fuzz and music. It has a cassette player and CD changer which work perfectly fine so for the most part the head unit is working. Would you know why the radio stations do not come in clear when they normally should?

Thank you very much for any help and time

Answer
Antonio,
The receiver in the stereo itself is probably malfunctioning.  That can happen if your stereo overheats or has a lot of moisture build up in it.  You've already replaced the antenna and cable, so the only thing left would be to replace the radio itself.  If you want to keep the stock setup, you can contact your local salvage yards and ask if they have any 3000GTs or Dodge Stealths where you can take the radio from.  You can also check eBay to see if they have any used stereos on there from your model of car.
Good luck!
