Mitsubishi Repair: WATER PUMP, timing belt tensioner, 1993 mitsubishi diamante

Question
Where is the water pump located on a 1993 Mitsubishi Diamante ES and how much should I pay to get it repaired.

Answer
Alonzo,
I believe your water pump is located on the front of your engine (the driver side if you're looking at the front of your car).  There is a serpentine belt going over it and other components like the alternator, power steering and A/C.

If you take the car to the dealership, they will replace it properly, though may not replace it without replacing other items like your serpentine belt, timing belt and timing belt tensioner.  And if your car has not had its timing belt replaced in more than 60,000 miles, it should be replaced.  The cost of all those parts would be around $120 for the water pump, $100 for the timing belt, $30 for the sepentine belt, and about $30 for the timing belt tensioner - total - roughly $300 in parts.  Labor cost usually range from $50-$85 per hour; and this job can take about 3-4 hours depending on the experience of the mechanic.  So paying around $500-$700 for the job would be an average cost.
Good luck!
