Mitsubishi Repair: Transmission has no forward or reverse, automatic transaxle, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
93 Mitsubishi Eclipse 1.8 liter engine, automatic transaxle with overdrive. Vehichle started running rough in drive, shifted a little eratic then lost forward gear while in drive, has no reverse as well(no prior warning) transaxle fluid level good, not burnt and does not have any particles, gear shift cable to trans seems ok.
Could it be a trans sensor, if so how can I retrieve the trouble codes.

Already Tried:
Trans fluid ok, shift cable ok, inspected under hood, axles, ect. visualy seems ok (no loose hoses, wires or lines),  no prior trans problems.

Answer
George,
You may need a transmission rebuild.  If cables and all exterior components look ok, then odds are it's something internal.  I would recommend finding a qualified transmission shop and have your car towed there for a complete inspection.  Rebuilding your transmission may cost around $1000.  Or you can buy a rebuilt or used one.  But for this problem, you'll definitely want a transmission mechanic to take a look at it first.
Good luck!
