Mitsubishi Repair: no spark 91 awd tsi, auto parts stores, car wont start

Question
I was low on fuel last time I drove. couple of days later the car wont start. checked all fuel and is fine. pulled plugs and had g\friend start car, i could see no spark. It cranks, just wont start. I pulled the ecu and saw that one of the caps did leak a small amount. would that cause it to just not start all of a sudden with no warning? Is there anyone that can test a ecu out of the car? I pulled the coil out also. can that be tested out of the car? Thank you for your help, it is greatly appreciated.

Answer
Justin,
When you test the spark plugs, make sure they are grounded properly or you won't see a spark.  But yes, you can have sudden problems, without warning, if the caps in your ECU start leaking.  That cap may have leaked out years ago, but it can continue to work normally for a long time before it actually causes a problem.  You can find places that may be able to help test, fix, or replace your ECU here:

If you want to test your coil yourself, I would highly recommend you pick up a service manual for your car.  It can be tested out of the car, but it's not as definitively.  Both Haynes and Chiltons make a service manual for your car that will instruct how to test components like these, and they are available at most major auto parts stores.
