Mitsubishi Repair: Transmission Leak, mitsubishi montero sport, mitsubishi montero

Question
I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport Limited with an Automatic Transmission.  It has about 62,000 miles.

It seemed to me like the shifting was rough, so I had it flushed.  It seemed fine and everything was great until I got on the freeway the following weekend.  When I get it going at high speeds (70-80 mph), it leaks fluid once I stop and the transmission slips when I get off the freeway.  Once I let it cool everything is fine.  When I took it back to the shop, they could find no leak (I only drive on the freeways on the weekends).  Any ideas?

Thanks,

--Stephen

Answer
Stephen,
You should find a shop that can test this by putting a leak dye in your transmission system and have them drive it around.

You can even buy a leak dye detector kit from your local auto parts store and try to find where your transmission is leaking yourself.  This will save you some money, and you can see for yourself if and where exactly your tranny is leaking.  If you do find the leak, you can bring the car back to your mechanic and show them where the leak is.  Once they know, they can fix it.
Good luck!
