Mitsubishi Repair: 1996 mitusubishi galant s transmission, transmission control unit, mitsubishi galant

Question
Hi, I own a 1996 mitsubishi galant s 2.4 with 65000 miles automatic trans , not to long ago i was slowing down and the car started to shake and rattle then stalled. This happend a few times and i would shut the car and it would go.  I checked the oil and tranny fluid no issue with that. Today i was on my way to work and the car started no problem but the tranny started slipping and not catching funny odor coming from underneath the carriage as well. Any idea what might be the problem ?

Answer
Jay,
You should have your torque converter inspected, and even your transmission control unit.  Either one can cause the problems you're experiencing.  It would be best to have a transmission shop take a look at it.  Hopefully it's something as simple as a loose shift linkage, but you should have it checked out to be sure.
Good luck!
