Mitsubishi Repair: 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sunroof Rattle, auto glass shops, mitsubishi eclipse

Bought my daughter a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse, 420 non turbo, auto last spring. Nice little car and she loves it. However, the sunroof rattle when its closed. The roof opens and closes fine and does not rattle when its open.  I've asked the local dealer about it and he's more interested in trying to sell me a new sunroof, than he is repairing this one. I've also taken the car to a couple of auto glass shops who install custom sunroofs but they are at a loss. Any suggestions or tips?

The tracks or the linkages may be loose, which can cause rattles when the sunroof is closed.  There may be some worn out weatherstripping that is allowing the glass itself to rattle in the tracks.  That may need to be replaced if you start to notice water leaking into the cabin.
