Mitsubishi Repair: Ingnition wires, oil leaks, fuel mixture

Question
I have 2000 Galant, 3.0L V6, with 80K mi. I'm about to change spark plugs and wires. How long can I expect a set of wires to last, and is there an advantage to using NGK or other brand such as Autolite?

Answer
Sherman,
Both Autolite and NGK brands a good quality.  Though, Autolite gears many of their products towards American designed vehicles, while NGK is almost exclusively made for Japanese vehicles.  I've used the NGK plugs and wires in all the Japanese cars I've owned (includes Mitsubishi, Honda, Nissan, and Toyota) and I've been very pleased with them.

Check your owners manual for the recommended change interval for your plugs and wires.  Typically it's every 30k-45k miles, or every 3-4 years.  Though plugs can wear prematurely if oil leaks in your the spark plug wells or your fuel mixture is too rich; causing plugs to foul.  But if your car is running well, you should get several years out of plugs and wires as I've stated.
Good luck!
