Mitsubishi Repair: montero rough idle, fuel filter, sr 3

Question
I have a 92 montero SR 3.0 When coming to a stop, the motor has a rough idle, low RPMs.When letting off the brake it jumps until you give it the gas.Runs fine at higher speeds.Seems like the hotter it gets the worse it is.I have replaced plugs, wires, cap and button.Even tried injector cleaner. At times, even hot,it will run fine. But after turning off and restarting it goes back to rough idle.Got any ideas?

Answer
David,
You may having a dying alternator.  Weak eletrical components perform extrememly poorly under hot conditions.  When your car is in motion, that can help cool your alternator, but while at a stop or idle, the heat builds up and can prevent the alternator from providing enough current.  Have your alternator and battery tested to see if they are functioning properly.

You can also look into replacing your air filter and fuel filter if you haven't done so within the past 2 years.  I would also recommend having your ignition timing and timing belt inspected.  If your timing is off, it will cause stalling/rough idle.
Good luck!
