Mitsubishi Repair: 99 Montero, mechanic friend, intermittent problems

Question
I have a 1999 Montero.  A month ago my horn stated going off out of the blue so I had to disconnect it.  Then the dash lights started to go in and out. Now when I try to start the car, I have to make three or four attempts before the car starts.   I had the starter check out but the starter was fine.  A mechanic friend said that it could be a relay problem but that he just wasn't sure.   What do you think?

Answer
Dee,
Your problem definitely sounds electrical.  You'll want to have your fuse and relay banks inspected for corrosion or other damage.  Your fuse and relay banks are located under your hood (usually near your battery) and also under your steering column.  There is most likely a short somewhere causing your intermittent problems.  Have them inspected and replaced if necessary.
Good luck!
