Mitsubishi Repair: oil stick, oil level gauge, auto salvage yards

Question
i have a 1992 galant and wanted to know where i could get a stick to read my oil

Answer
Emmet,
The quickest and easiest way to get another dip stick is to order one from your dealership.  Just go to the parts department and ask for a new dip stick (though Mitsubishi refers to it as an 'engine oil level gauge').  The part number is MD135106.  Sometimes the folks at the dealership insist on having your VIN before they search for parts.  This is typically because their parts search engine need the VIN to initiate a search.  So just have your VIN on hand to get it.  You can even call and order one over the phone.  The part goes for about $10-$12.

If you're looking to save a buck or two, you can call around to auto salvage yards and ask if they have one.  You can even check ebay.  But I would recommend simply going to the dealership to get a new one, with a nice new rubber gasket.
Good luck!
