Mitsubishi Repair: 1998 mitsubishi mirage transmition filter, engine oil filter, leon humphrey

Question
I have a 98 mirage and I need to change the transmition fluid filter. On the top of the transmition there is a can filter, like an oil filter, I was wondering if this is the trans filter or do I have to take the trans pan off to get to the filter. Thank you for your time.

                Sincerely,

Answer
Leon,
You need to remove the transmission fluid pan in order to access the transmission filter.  A new transmission filter is around $20-$25 from the dealership.

But it is a pretty straight forward procedure if you decide to do this yourself.  Unfortuntely, it's not as nice and clean as regular engine oil filter change.  You may get some good tips from the service or parts department folks at your dealership if you purchase your filter from them.
Good luck!
