Mitsubishi Repair: Stall During Days with High Humidity, high humidity, car stalls

Question
95 Mitsu, Mirage, 1.8, SE auto.  The vehicle has 213,000 miles, I am just breaking it in.  I never have a problem starting the vehicle regardles of weather.  The problem is when I start to drive the car and the humidity is over 60%.  The car stalls and spudders continuously. After stalling, it starts right up and goes a little bit then stalls again.  I have to be real easy with the accelerator during this time.   When the humidity is low the car runs fine.  I do not have MITSU plugs, wires nor Dist cap.

Answer
Rene,
Even if you do not have a Mitsubishi brand of plugs, wires or distributor, you should have your ignition components checked.  If your distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and wires are over 3 years or 25,000 miles, you should replace them.  The build up of moisture in a distributor cap will cause the exact problem you're describing.  Moisture will cause electrical arching and that makes your car run poorly.  It may actually be caused by a bad distributor cap gasket.

If new cap, rotor, plugs, and plug wires does not help, your ignition distributor itself should be inspected.  Also have your timing checked to be sure it's set to factory specs.

If timing and ignition components check out fine, have your fuel pump checked and your fuel filter replaced.
Good luck!
