Mitsubishi Repair: 1991 Mighty Max 2.4L truck balance belt replacement, belt pulleys, mitsubishis

Question
My timing belt broke. While replacing it I went ahead and decided to change the balance belt at the same time since i dont know when either of these belts were last changed! How do I re-install the balance belt(there is no way it slips on!)? do I have to remove the crank bolt that is holding the timing and balance belt pulleys to the crankshaft? If so, which direction do i rotate that bolt to loosen it? Also, what are the torque setting for said bolt. Thanks alot!!

Answer
Jason,
Unfortunately, I don't answer "How do I install ..." questions because they can get extremely involved; especially concerning timing belt installs.  From what I know from other Mitsubishis, all crank bolts/nuts need to turn counterclockwise to loosen, and that will need to come off to install a balance belt.  The torque on most crank bolts is around 90-110 ft-lbs.

I believe Haynes sells a service manual for your car.  Check your local auto parts store to see if the have it available.
Good luck!
