Mitsubishi Repair: 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.0L GSX manual, spark plug wires, valve cover gasket

Question
I am very dumb when it comes to cars...I don't exactly know what it is called, but when you raise the hood, there are some wires with little cups on them, that have arrows. I'm assuming that the arrows are for lining up the direction of where the wires go. Any way, The first one, on the left is leaking oil? So the question is, Can I replace this wire, and stop the leak? Or is there something more serious going on.

Answer
Winnie,
I believe you are referring to your spark plug wires.  Those wires should be replaced every 40,000 miles or so.  Your spark plugs should be changed at the same time.

The oil that appears to be leaking probably won't stop after your spark plug wires are replaced.  The leak is probably coming from a worn out valve cover gasket.  It's very common for that leak oil over time; especially if you've never had it replaced before.  Other causes of oil leak is a worn out oil cap gasket.  That's a very inexpensive fix.  My recommendation is that you have the following items replaced.
- Valve cover gasket
- Spark plugs
- Spark plug wires
- PCV valve

Your problem is not too serious now, but it should be fixed.  If wait too long it can cause serious problems.  Tell your mechanic to simply replace the items I've mentioned.  If you want, you can buy these items yourself from your local auto parts store, and then ask a mechanic to install them.
Good luck!
