Mitsubishi Repair: clutch?, transmission fluid change, shift linkage

Question
I have a 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Manual Transmission.  Just today the shifter did not want to go into gear!  I had to force it into all gears while driving to work, because I didn't want to be late.  Do you think it's the clutch?  If so, is there a way I can resolve this problem without going to a mechanic?  I heard that one can "tighten" the clutch.  Please help!!!

Answer
Dae,
It may be a bad shift linkage.  The links are attached to your shifter itself, and to two small arms on the top of the transmission .  Check to make sure those are tight.  Also check to make sure you have enough clutch fluid. A low fluid level will cause hard shifts.

Also, if it's been over 40,000 since you last transmission fluid change, this is the time to do it.  Dirty or lack of transmission fluid will cause hard shifts as well.  Have it changed with the appropriate fluid and see if it helps.
Good luck!
