Mitsubishi Repair: code to turn check engine light off, negative battery cable, autozone

Question
I am an owner of a 2001 mitiubishi eclipse, 2.4L, GS, manual. My check engine light came on a few days ago, to alert me that I needed to change my oil. I changed my oil and my oil filter, but I just need the code to turn the check engine light off.

Answer
Amanda,
The easiest way to try to turn off your Check Engine Light (CEL), is to disconnect your negative battery cable for about 60 seconds, then re-attach it.  The downside to that procedure is that your car's radio may require you to enter an unlock code to bypass the anti-theft circuit.  So, if you know your radio's bypass code, then you can just disconnect and connect the negative battery cable, then enter your unlock code.

But you can also visit your local AutoZone, and they have a tool that can plug into your car's diagnotic port and turn off the CEL.  Your local dealership may also be able to help you for free.  Ask them nicely, and maybe they will be accommidating :)
Good luck!
