Mitsubishi Repair: 2001 galant 4 cylinder. tried..., negative battery cable, blown fuses

2001 galant 4 cylinder. tried to change battery now headlights stay on and won't turnoff. car won't start and on dash is a green car icon with a key in it. what is going on?

Check to be sure the battery is not installed backwards.  There is typically a '+' and '-' next to the positive and negative battery terminals, respectively.  The positive battery cable typically has a large red stripe on it.  The negative battery cable is either all black or black with a yellow stripe.  Be sure the positive cable is attached to the positive terminal, and likewise for the negative side.  

Also, be sure the battery cables are clean and free from corrosion.  Check the fuses and fuse box the positive battery is attached to.  Check for any blown fuses.  Also make sure the negative battery cable is securely attached as well.
