Mitsubishi Repair: 94 3000gt, mass air sensor, crank angle sensor

Question
my car started giving me plroblems awile ago iv replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, water pump, and tps and now its not starting for the most part. but if it does start the minute i press on the gas it will bog down and die unless i fluter the gas really fast then i can get it up to around 4000rpm but if i just hold the gas there it will die. there is no engine light with this. i had a computer diagnostic done and it had 3 codes come up . a tps code, air temp sensor and some thing to do with the crank sensor. i would appreciate any info you could give me about what could cause this. thank you josh

Answer
Josh,
Check your new tps and make sure it's attached properly.  It's possible its harness has come loose.  Your intake air temperature (IAT) sensor is part of your mass air sensor (MAS) located inside your air filter housing.  If the MAS itself is malfunctioning, you will get the problem you're describing.

The crank angle sensor trouble code, which you mentioned also appear during the diagnostic test, could indicate your timing is off. You should have your timing checked out.  You may also need to have your timing belt replaced.  If it has been over 60,000 miles since your last timing belt change, it's a good idea to have one done.  Also test your crank angle sensor to be sure it's operating propertly.

If everything checks out all right, you should have your car's computer itself check.  Read this article for further information:

If your ECU is malfunctioning, you can have all sorts of starting and idling problems.  Check it for damage.
Good luck!
