Question
i drive a 95 eclipse gst 5spd. i was having problems with the clutch. had to press all the way to the floor to start car and change gears. took it to my mechanic who then took it later that day for a drive. he called and asked if the car had been dying on me since the clutch started acting up. i said no. he could not restart the car. i came and tried to start it. it tried to start but wouldnt. rpms kept jumping all around while trying to start. ive had the  transmission replaced new clutch new plugs, wires, coils recentlly. also someone before me has a whole lot of electrical tape on the wiring harness.

Answer
Corey,
If you had the entire clutch replaced, I'll assume the clutch lines were bled and the transmission fluid was checked.  Also, your mechanic should have inspected the clutch master cylinder.

The only electrical issue that could affect your starting would be if the clutch switch was disabled at one point.  The clutch switch is there as a safety device.  It senses if the clutch pedal is pressed in, and if it's not, the car will not start.  It's poosible you may just need your clutch pedal height adjusted.  If the tachometer bounces all over when starting your engine, it's a good idea to check your engine compression and make sure the timing is set correctly.  Have your ECU checked as well.  If your car's computer is malfunctioning, then you'll have all sorts of problems.
Good luck!
