Mitsubishi Repair: Squeaky Door, purpose grease, eclipse spyder

Question
I suppose this question could've been asked to anyone who repairs vehicles, but I thought you might be familiar with it.  I've got a 98 Eclipse Spyder GS Automatic (I believe it's a 2.4L) & the left door is squeaking when I open it.  I sprayed some WD-40 into the hole where the arm connects the door to the frame w/ no luck.  Any ideas on how to get this squeak outta' there?!  I'm selling the car & it makes the car "sound cheap!"  Thanks in advance!

Answer
Adam,
You're right.  A squeaky door is not a big problem, but it may tend to make the car sound cheap.  Though if it makes you feel better, I drove a Ferrari with squeaky doors ;-)

WD-40 is not the best lubricant to use on a squeaky door.  You need to use an all purpose grease.  You can find bearing grease or any all purpose grease at a store that sells automotive parts.  You can usually find a grease gun in the same section as you can find the grease at stores.  The grease gun will help pin point and accurately apply the grease.  But a grease gun is not necessary to apply the grease.  It just makes the job less messy.  If you can, remove the door panel on the inside of the door to apply the grease more evenly.  But apply the grease as best you can and just keep swinging the door back and forth until the sound is gone or is masked well enough to sell the car.
Good luck!
