Mitsubishi Repair: 95 Eclipse, mass air sensor, amp fuse

Question
My daughter has a 95 Eclipse GST 2.0 DOHC,manual transmission. We have replaced the alternator and battery, also the 100 amp fuse for alternator and choke. As soon as she took it out on the highway the  idiot lights came on, the car died and after about 1 hour it started and she drove it home only for it to do it again. Please give us some idea as to what to do. Thanks

Answer
Kate,
There are several things that can cause the car to not start after the engine warms up.  Usually it's either a fuel system problem or a sensor problem.  Also, it's possible your alternator is not grounded properly after it had been installed.  That's not too uncommon of a problem.  But have your mass air sensor inspected and your engine coolent sensor inspected.  Also, have your fuel pump checked, and get your fuel filter replaced if it's been over 2 years since it has been replaced.

It's possible your car's computer may have a problem, but check the other items I mentioned first.  If your mechanic is stumped, have them check the car's computer.
Good luck!
