Mitsubishi Repair: my radio!!, digit code number, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
HI,
I have a 2001 Mitsubishi eclipse hatchback.
About one month ago, my battery died. I went and and bought a new one, and the car was fine. All except my radio, it wont work, it's not completley dead, it says on the screen "code".
I guess it needs one to turn back on? I've lost my manual and have no idea what to do.  I don't want to take it in to service and have an outrageous bill for something that might be very inexpensive.  please help.
thanks,
claudia

Answer
Claudia,
On the new Eclipses, you are required to enter a radio code if you loose electrical connection to your battery.  The procedure for entering the code is in your owners manual, which unfortunately you indicated you lost. I believe you just push the buttons on the radio to enter that 4-digit code number.

Just be aware that you only have 3 chances to enter it. If you enter it wrong 3 times, your radio will display "OFF". Then you'll be locked out from entering your code. If that happens, you'll need to put your key in the ignition and turn it to the ACC position and leave it there for about
45 minutes. That will reset your radio and you can have 3 more chances.

If you cannot find the 4-digit code, you will most likely need to drive over to your local Mitsubishi dealership and go to the service department with your registration card.  The card is for proof that you own the car and it also has the VIN on it.  Tell them that you need the radio code for your car.  They shouldn't charge you to just give you the code; only if they set the radio themselves.  You should be able handle setting the radio once you get the code.
Good luck!
