Mitsubishi Repair: cabin air filter, mitsubishi galant, cabin air filter

Question
i have a 2001 mitsubishi galant sedan and need to replace the cabin air filter. at the mitsubishi dealer these filters cost almost sixty dollars, just for the part. i am able to replace it myself but cannot find an aftermarket parts place that sells these at any price. can you advise me where i can purchase this item at a more reasonable cost.    thanks, jim

Answer
Jim,
$60 does sound high for a cabin air filter.  If you cannot find an aftermarket replacement at AutoZone, Advanced Auto, PepBoys, or NAPA stores, your only option will be to pick one up from the dealership.  But even different Mitsubishi dealerships can have different prices.  If you have more than one Mitsu dealership in your area, call them up and ask the price they have the air filters for.

If you only have one dealership or all dealerships you contacted are the same price, you can try some dealerships that sell their inventory online.  Here are a couple that sell the air filter for about $35:

Give them a call and confirm their prices.
Good luck!
