Mitsubishi Repair: crankshaft pulley, crankshaft pulley, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
1996 Mitsubishi eclipse, 2.0, twin cam, non-turbo, 5 speed.  I am replacing timing belt, but cannot seem to be able to remove the crankshaft pulley, any help would be appreciated.  Do I need a special tool or technique? thanks.

Answer
Jerry,
There is a special tool that Mitsubishi uses to to remove the pulley.  It's little more than a gear puller, but with a little brace to prevent the pulley from turning.  The following web site prodives detailed instructions on replacing the timing belt on a 2G non-turbo Eclipse:

You may be able to get some further tips from this page.  I believe you can purchase a similar tool in your local auto or hardware store.  AutoZone can even loan you a variety of gear pullers that may help.
Good luck!
