Mitsubishi Repair: starter whines, starter relay, battery connections

I own a 2001 Mitsubishi 2dr Mirage standard 5speed. The starter is making noise. After I purchased a new starter, it made the same noise.

It may be making a noise from a loose electrical connection from the starter to the battery, or even from the starter relay.  Have all starter relay connections, starter to battery connections, and starter to ground connections checked again.

If all electrical connections are fine, there may be a problem with your flywheel.  The starter connects to the flywheel and turns that to start the engine.  If there is a problem with the connection between the starter and the flywheel, that could cause strange noises.
