Mitsubishi Repair: Eclipse clutch replacement, clutch slave cylinder, clutch replacement

Question
I need to replace the clutch in a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS 3 DR Sport Coupe 2.0L DOHC 16V 4 cylinder w/mpi fuel injection 5 spd manual transmission.  My question is would it be easier to pull the engine or should I just pull the transmission?

Answer
Edward,
Even if you have an engine crane to lift the engine out of your engine bay, it would still be easier to leave the engine in when you change the clutch.  You'll just need to drop the tranny.  If you plan on doing the job yourself, make sure you have a very good reference manual.  A Haynes or Chiltons is pretty good, but a factory service manual is best.  You'll want to be sure you have all the torque setting for the bolts as exact as possible.

Also, if you have close to or over 100k miles on your car, I'd recommend replacing the clutch slave cylinder.
Good luck!
