Mitsubishi Repair: radio code, mitsubishi mirage, 2000 mitsubishi mirage

Question
I have a 2000 mitsubishi mirage and my battery died and I had it jump started now the radio/ cd player won't work and it says to enter a code.  Do you know anything about this?  I would appreciate any info you have. Thank you

Answer
Chris,
The code it wants you to enter is a security code for the radio.  The manufacturer puts it there so no one can steal your radio and use it in another car.  The code should have been provided to you when you bought the car from the dealership.  If you're not the original buyer of the car, you can take your car to any Mitsubishi dealership (service department) and ask for the code.  Usually, they will ask for identification to verify you are the owner of the car.  This usually just includes your drivers license and registration card.  Sometimes, the dealership will want to physically see the car before they give you the code.  But if you don't know the code, the dealership is the only place to get it.  Your owners  manual will give you the procedure for entering the code once you get it.
Good luck!
