Mitsubishi Repair: 98 eclipse convertable non turbo GS, needle nose pliers, caliper pistons

Question
Hello, I am going to attempt a brake job on my brother's Mitsu with disks/drums. I have done 4 brake jobs in my life and it wasn't to bad. I don't think I am way over my head with this car, but you never know. I have all the brake tools and plan on buying the manual. Anything I should know before I get started that might give me a hard time like having to press out any bearings.
Thanks.

Answer
Ernie,
You shouldn't run into any problems on the Eclipse if you've done other brake jobs.  There is one unique thing that some Eclipses have (I'm not sure about the Spyder model). When you replace the brake pads, the pistons on the calipers will need to retracted (as with every car).   Many caliper pistons can retracted using a C-clamp.  But many Eclipses use a type of piston that you have to twist to get it to retract.  Using a needle nose pliers is usually the best way to twist it.  Most all service manuals will instruct you on this if your calipers require it.

But while you're in there, be sure to check out the other suspension components, and especially the CV-boots.
Good luck!
