Mitsubishi Repair: Headlights, plastic caps, time and patience

Question
I have an Eclipse 98, RS, Manual...but my question is simple enough...I want to know how to remove my front headlight covers because there is water and moisture underneath...is this possible?

Answer
Isaac,
The headlights on your car are called sealed-beam highlights.  Basically, that means they are sealed permanently to prevent damage.  On many cars that have sealed beams, they do develop moisture and cloudiness over time.  The simplest way is the remove the buld and let it air out.  Using a hair dryer could help.

Another easy way is to just remove the 2 plastic caps from the back of the headlights to let the condensation dry up, but if you leave them off, dirt and other things can find their way in there.

If you have a lot of time and patience, you could take off the metal clips on the outer edges of the plastic headlight cover, then heat the headlamp assembly until the silicone that seals the cover to the back of the whole unit becomes soft. Then slide the plastic cover off, clean the inside of the light, take all of the old silicone off, put a fresh bead of new adhesive around the inside of the cover, and slide it back on the rest of the assembly.

The likely reason you're getting moisture in there is because the seal has gone bad due to age. Hope that made sense
Good luck!
