Motorcycle Repair: CB 350 Fuel

Question
Hi Bill, I,m rebuilding my 1973 cb 350g. my question is what type of fuel do you use ( unleaded--lead additive--octane--High test ). Or am I over thinking this ? I would think it makes a difference on performance.
Thanks
Don

Answer
I always just use premium fuel in any air-cooled vintage Honda. No need for elaborate lead additives or octane boosters. They like high octane fuel to help suppress detonation issues. I have found that with alcohol in the gas, some bikes need to be jetted a little richer for best performance. Today's fuels have a different viscosity and fuel energy than what the bikes were using back in the 1970s.
