Motorcycle Repair: 1984 xr200r dual carb

Sorry didn't give details my bike does have a completion leak in the gasket under the intake it does kick when warmed up sometimes . another qs  I'm fixing the gasket leak now and I can't get the timing chain tensoner off do I have to take the side case off? Does the bolt at the bottom come off before or after it comes out?

Jesse, the tensioner is an automatic version. You can take the top bolt out to release the tension arm after you have removed the camsprocket and cam chain. I think you might have to use a longer top bolt in the tensioner to keep the lower tensioner shaft from coming up, before tackling the tensioner. Remove the top small 6mm bolt then run a longer bolt down inside the hole to put tension on the shaft. If you take the top bolt off first, the tensioner will try to take up the slack and pop the tensioner up further into the head cavity.

It may be easier to remove the left side cover, but then you will have to get a rotor puller bolt to get the rotor off the end of the crankshaft so you can access the bottom end of the tensioner blade and tension spring.
