Motorcycle Repair: 82 kaw regulator/rectifier

Question
hey, how indifferent are voltage regulators/rectifiers? could I use one from a 750 on my 440? (yes, I understand that the connections are different, and I would have to cut/splice wires.) but, technically, shouldn't the 12v regulator perform the same operation?

or

would the output from the 440's stator be touchy enough that it would require using a regulator from a 440?

Answer
Hello Craig,

There is ubsolutely no problem. Almost every regulator/rectifier (bikes with Gel batteries excluded) fits every bike, as long as their batteries are within 2A/h capacity differense.

Generally the Reg/Rec of a biger bike fits better to a smaller, than the other way round.

Needless to mention that all of the above apply, when the two bikes have the same type of generator, one or three phase.

To cut a long story short, in your case, no problem at all.

Lazaros.
