Motorcycle Repair: 1979 xs650 Yamaha, xs650 yamaha, screw driver

Question
I have a 79 xs650 Yamaha with spark on the points and when i flick them with a screw driver i get spark on the plugs,but here is the tricky part when i kick the bike over using kick the start i get no spark on the plugs,would you have any idea what might be causing this little hiccup thank you Donnie.

I would check all the ground wires to the frame and battery.
Check the points for burnt or pitting. Replace the points. Only other I can thing of is the ignition switch. That is certainly a Tricky issue.
It sounds like a dirty connection or a shorted wire. Cant ay I have ever encountered than problem.
