Hello, I have a strange problem. I recently purchased a 2007 vt600 vlx at a storage auction, paperwork says it has been there for at least 6 months. it will start, but on if I rev the engine, it wont idle, and wont hold a steady rpm (I have to twist and release the throttle continuously) I put fresh gas in it, and a battery when I got it, other than that, I haven't tried taking anything apart.

Travis, It sounds like the slow or pilot jet is plugged. It may run on choke or rev up but wont idle. The carb assembly has to be pulled out and the bowls removed, pull out the slow jets and look through them you should see some light. If not use a small wire and some spray carb cleaner and blow through these then replace them and try again.
