Motorcycle Repair: 2006 Suzuki gs500f starter, 2006 suzuki gs500f, positive cable

Question
I have a 2006 Suzuki gs500f and the starter dose not work. There is power going to and from the ignition button. But I dont know where to find the starter.

Answer
Hi Kelly,

The starter is under a cover behind the engine cylinders.
You should see two bolts and a cable coming out the back
side of the cover.

The problem may not be the starter itself however.

Check the clutch switch for problems.

The starter button power goes through a side stand switch and
to a clutch switch and then to the starter relay solenoid
which is under the bike's seat.

When all this is working the relay should make a clicking
noise as it connects the battery positive cable to the
starter cable on the relays contacts.

You have to check for power to the relay when you push
the start button. If the relay has power then the
relay should connect the two cables if it is working.

Lastly the power goes to the starter motor and then it
has to also be in working condition.
A good battery is also essential.

Let me know if you need more info.
