Motorcycle Repair: honda vt250fj stator and rectifier, ac volts, stator

when testing the stator leads should i get infinity across each? what reading to ground <2 ohms what voltage to earth? and how many volts to battery? 14.5+ but less than 15.?v thanks for your advise, Mark S

Hi Mark,

Between the 3 yellow stator leads the reading is very small like 0.1-1.0 ohms.
There should be no leads that connect to ground at all.

If you check the output between the leads with the stator disconnected it will read
AC volts above 20 volts and much higher if engine speed is increased.

Voltage on the battery with everything connected should be about 13.5-15 volts DC
at 3000 rpm or so.
