Motorcycle Repair: suzuki sv 650, suzuki sv 650, suzuki sv650

Question
I changed  the  electrical generator  in my suzuki sv650 2001 yaer model,  when  I  opened  it  up  ther is  an  epoxy  ring  around  the  metal  area surrounding  the  generator.  Pieces  had  broken  loose  so  I  put  new  epoxy  to  repair  it.   It's  been  a  year  now,  but  I'm  afraid  the  same  things  happening  again.  What  purpose  does  the  epoxy  serve,  electrically,  do  I  have  to  replace  it  again,  or  can  I just  remove  it  all  together, or  will that  affect  the  electricity  generated?

Answer
Maxwell, I have worked on a few sv650,s but not had a stator out of one. Its possible that this is an insulating componant thats breaking down. Some units on the market glue the magnets in the flywheel and the glue  starts to breakdown you have to replace the flywheel as its not recommended to reglue them in place. Sorry it may be time to replace the part.
