Motorcycle Repair: 1986 Honda shadow problems, honda shadow 1986, wire connections

I have a Honda Shadow 1986 700cc, the problem I am having is that the fans are not kicking on the radiator. It is overheating. I do not have an owners manual but would be really interested in finding out how to get one for the future. Please give me more insite on how to fix this problem.

Usually there is a switch somehwere on the radiator with two wires attached that switch the fan on at a certain temperature.  Those switches can fail but usually the wire connections are the first thing to check.  If you short the two wires, the fan should come on.  If that is the case, then the switch is bad.
