Motorcycle Repair: 1986 virago 1100, virago 1100, hot wire

I just bought a 1986 virago 1100 it was not running when i got it i put a good batty in it and all it dose is click at the cylinoide i put a hot wire to the starter and it turns on so im wondering if the cylinoide is bad or what else could be the problem???? never worked on this type of bike before that has a bendix

Jesse, The Virago's are known for starter issues. If you can jump across the solenoid terminals and the strter turns over the you may have a solenoid problem. Make sure the battery is fully charged and check all the connections. If it still just clicks then replace it with a new one so it wont leave you stranded somewhere.
