Motorcycle Repair: hond cx650c, regulator rectifier, plug cap

QUESTION: Jan i got 1983 Honda cx650c when it gets wormed up about 15 min after i ride it it will start to miss like it would foul out a plug i put new plugs & wires on had the coils & cdi checked out they r good don't know what to do hope u can help thanks

ANSWER: Is the tank cap venting properly?  Sounds like you may be running out of fuel becuase you are drawing a vacuum in the tank.  try releasing the gas cap when the bike starts to stutter; does it improve?  Let me know,  Jan

QUESTION: Jan not the cap. it seems to b running on one plug like missing when driving it will cut out. i pulled off each plug cap the right one keeps running soon as i pull the left one it stalled out. i was told its my cdi or coil but changed both them with used parts. still doing same thing. would the regulator rectifier have something to do with it?

Answer
No the rectifier would cause different problems.  If you already changed or swapped the CDI and the coil, then the only things left are the pickups and the wiring.  I would first check and double check the multi-pin connectors from the pickups to the CDI unit, and then the wires from the CDI to the coils.  Also ensure the pickup themselves are clean and connected well.  I hope you already changed the plugs, since that should be top of the list...
