Motorcycle Repair: softail front brakes, new girlfriend, dumb thing

Question
QUESTION: Changed brake pads. Master cylinder wont pump back up. Will, pump back up when not on rotor plate. Wont, pump back up, on rotor plate. Tried everything but rebuilding master cylinder. What dumb thing am I missing?

ANSWER: Doesnt sound like you missed anything. Put it back together and bleed the brake system. You might have some air in the system. It should work then

QUESTION: Yeah. Did that, like, a hundred times. Same result. I pumped it more than a new girlfriend. An still got crap. Ended up puttin one of the old pads, back on. (not as spread open) and have a half ass brake. But it's still not right. Sure I'm not in need of a rebuild.

Answer
Since your brakes worked befor the pads and not after, then I would say its not the master cylinder. It sounds like the puck in the brake caliber is sticking. The new pads have pushed the puck farther back in the caliber and crud in the caliber is making it stick. I would remove the puck and clean out the hole it goes on and make sure it slides smoothly
