Motorcycle Repair: honda goldwing, honda goldwing aspencade, yellow wires

Dear Sir, I have a 1986 Honda goldwing aspencade will run for about ten minutes and just cut off the wires coming up from rectifier 3 yellow wires gets hot and the regulator and its wires gets hot and thats when it turns off,have replaced plugs coils relay regulator,main box. Please help im lost it has a steady 14.7 volt charge running.also replaced battery.

Craig, I may have bad news for you. If its a 1200 they had problems with the stator going out. This requires the engine to be pulled and a new stator put in. I have done so may times. The connector from the stator runs up the left side and the connector has the 3 yellow wires. Its under the side cover and so is the battery. Some how the battery fumes corrode the connector causing the stator to work harder than it should shortening its life. Be prepared for this as the stator can be about $400.00 and labor with every thing could be an additional $600.00. It's about a 9 hr job.
