Motorcycle Repair: cr125 1997, strange pattern, needle valve

hi i have a cr125 1997 modle. my problem is when i lean the bike over to drain the carb the bike only starts for 2 seconds after then i have to drain the carb agen? do u have any idears what i can try? Thanks.

Ryan,It sounds like a type of fuel restriction. In other words when you lean the bike to drain the fuel out then try to start it. The bike probably runs on the fuel in the jets only. Then if it sets a little the bowl fills up and it may start of flood. The carb needs to be pulled and check the float assembly. It may need readjusted and clean the needle valve or it may need replaced. Due to the vibration and year of the bike it may have worn a strange pattern in the seat and the needle sticks. The float can also absorb fuel making it heavy so as not to set and shut the fuel off correctly.
