Motorcycle Repair: gs450, motorcycle shop, wiring schematics

Question
QUESTION: I was just wondering if you could help me find a simplified wiring diagram? the bike is mechanically complete, but the wiring is gone, I have all the components, but no wiring harness, I only want to make it run, everything else can be dealt with later. the electronics all test out good, except the CDI, which is pretty much a trial thing, I just dont know how it all should be wired. (obviously the coils, pulser, etc. are hooked up, but there are still stray wires on the cdi.

ANSWER: Travis depending on the year look online or go to a local motorcycle shop and see if they can get you a Clymer manual for your bike. They are about $29.00 and the wiring diagrams in it are pretty simple. Theres other info in it that may come in handy when it comes to testing or adjustments. I know our local library has some manuals but they are for cars. There is a lot of info out there but its limited on any wiring schematics, sorry.

QUESTION: Ok, I currently have a wiring diagram for the bike, but im looking to find out how to simplify ( If possible ) so I can avoid having to install a complete wiring harnes, ignition switch, etc., just to test for fire. Any ideas?

Answer
Travis,Unfortunatley this is not one of my stronger areas. I have rigged some wiring before on some quads but not bikes. The pulse coil by the flywheel does trigger the CDI to fire the coil to the plugs. But if its hooked up wrong it may take out the CDI. Also the stator charges the voltage regulator and it brings the generated voltage down to a useable 12 volts and also goes into the CDI to power it as well.
