Question
My Yamaha has been sitting for approx 2 yrs, it starts and runs as long as the choke is on. If you try to throttle it up it wants to die. as soon as you let go of the throttle it returns to the fast choked idle. I am looking for a starting point to fix this problem. Thank you so much for any help you can give me!

Answer
Ty the problem is that the pilot jets are plugged and maybe even the main jets. The fuel we get now adays breaks down quickly leaving a varnish like film in the fuel passages. The choke circuit uses a bigger metering tube so it doesnt plug up as easy. The carbs need to be pulled and overhauled and cleaned out and readjusted. Expect to pay as much as 1 hr shop rate per carb as this gets to be tedious work then have them syncronized to run as smoothly as possible.
