Motorcycle Repair: 2001 Honda Shadow Ace 750, honda shadow ace, honda shadow ace 750

Question
Hello, I have a 2001 Honda Shadow Ace 750. The battery keeps dying. I changed the battery to a new one thinking it was fixed. The new battery only lasts aprox.2 weeks i can charge the battery and it works just fine for aprox.2 weeks again.if i hook up jumper cables it starts rite up and runs for a little bit then the battery dies out again. I'm thinking its the stator but am trying to get a second opinion.

Answer
Mr. Riley,

You didn't mention the mileage on your bike and any past history of repairs/issues. The first thing to do is to check all wiring connections and grounds. The stator connectors are often the weak link in the charging systems, especially in moist climates/conditions. Corroded stator connectors are often the first area to fail on these bikes. Often when there is a failure with the stator, the regulator/rectifier goes down with it.
