Motorcycle Repair: 1982 xj 650, br8es, fuel valve

i have a 1982 xj 650 i bought it off a guy and not sure when it last ran.  i clean the carb 3 times and the coils are wroking it has compression in the it turns over but dose not start ever thing works. timing to good and valves are in spec. and new gas and plugs. can find out why it wont start

Robert,try this first. Put in one step hotter plugs for example if the plugs are a BR8ES then go to a BR7ES and make sure you have fire.When cranking it over spray starting fluid into the intake and see if it fires up.If it hits go ahead and put air filters back on and try again it may not be getting fuel into the carbs. With the fuel valve on open the drain screws on the bottom of each bowl and see if fuel is flowing into each bowl. If not there is a fuel restriction from the tank to float valve try to find it.
