Motorcycle Repair: 1986 350 honda quad, centrifugal clutch, cluch

Question
I have to replace the timing chain, and I have no idea how to take off the pulley and cluch, in order to get to the timing chain.
If you have pictures showing how to do it, I would appreciate it.
Thanks, Bill

Answer
Bill, this is an extensive and time consuming job not for the faint of heart. The top valve cover has to be removed then the side cover on the right. Make sure you drain the oil.Remove the chain tensioner on the cylinder. Now remove the 20mm nut on the front centrifugal clutch which is on the crankshaft. Make sure the piston is at TDC before removing any parts this will make going back togethor easy.Take some body paint that comes in a tube with a brush and put a mark on the cam gear at the top.Remove the centrifugal clutch off the crank if it wont clear the secondary clutch then it will need to be removed also. 4 10mm bolts and a 18 mm nut then slide it off then slide the front clutch. Now tilt the cam up and drop the chain down the cylinder and pull it out from the side by the crank. Now reinstall the new chain and reverse everything. Also reset the valves at about .003 for both intake and exhaust. Also when installing the cam chain tensioner the  bolt on the end has to be removed and the slotted screw has to be turned to release the tension on the plunger. Bolt it into place then release the tension.
